THE FABULOUS 1994 CALIFORNIA CABERNET SAUVIGNON VINTAGE

The Alchemist rated the 1994 California Cabernet Sauvignon vintage outstanding after tasting barrel samples in 1995, and the vintage has lived up to expectations and beyond. At 12 years old, these wines are starting to strut their stuff, but have several years to go before reaching their peak. The best of the vintage are big, rich wines with fine, soft tannins and lingering finishes. Only two other vintages of the 90s compare, the 1991 and 1997 vintages. If you are lucky enough to own these wines, you'll be in for a treat for many years to come, assuming they were properly cellared. Most recently I had the pleasure of uncorking a 1994 Joseph Phelps Insignia from my cellar, and it was extraordinary. Please see my Review.
